Born deaf and attended a regular school briefly, then a Catholic school, finally to the school for the deaf at Sumner, NZ. Worked in the wool industry, making garments and carpets for over 30 years until retirement due to surgery for breast cancer. However, she was asked to return to the wool factory because she was such a valuable worker. Married a hard of hearing man.
