Dobie, Patti A. Modie

Born at Ephrata, WA; deaf at age 5 from influenza-meningitis. Before that, her family had relocated to Canada. Attended the Mackay School for the Deaf and the Jericho Hill School for the Deaf, graduating the latter; later took social work courses at Langara College. Worked as a bank clerk, then as a teacher's aide at the Jericho Hill School before leaving work to marry John Dobie (also deaf) and raise a family. Worked in social work agencies.
