Summary
Tried and found guilty of the attempted murder by gunshot of his wife Minnie in February 1893 at Leicester, England. She was only wounded, not seriously, in the head. The local deaf community felt that Harris, prominent in their circle, was innocent and a victim of his harridan, vindictive wife's waving a gun around during one of their rows, it having gone off when he attempted to take it away from her. The jury found him guilty anyway, but in view of his deafness, the judge sentenced Harris to prision for only 5 years.
