Samter, Max

Late-deafened. Born at Berlin; graduated the University of Freiburg (Germany) in 1926, the University of Innsbruck (Austria) in 1928, earned M.D. from the University of Berlin in 1933. Emigrated to the U.S. in 1937; became deaf while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Held various positions, most notably at the School of Medicine, University of Illinois, Chicago.
