              Born deaf on a farm near Harvey, ND; North Dakota School for the Deaf 1909-1914, then her family moved to Canada. Saskatchewan School for the Deaf for a year and the Manitoba School for the Deaf for another year, then yet another year, 1918-1919, in the Mawer, SK public school. Kendall School for the Deaf for 2 years to prepare for Gallaudet College, when she attended also for 2 years. After leaving education, she worked as a ledger-keeper for a Winnipeg publishing company 1924-1928, then began in 1932 a teaching career that ran through the Saskatoon School for the Deaf, Mackay School for the Deaf, and the Washington State School for the Deaf before retirement in 1967. Married Gallaudet graduate Dewey H. Deer in 1944.
