              Summary
              Born at Wakefield; deaf at almost age 8. Apprenticed to his father's engineering business, but became involved in mission work to the deaf and eventually took a position as assistant missioner. About 1890, he also joined the staff of the British Deaf Times, and in 1892 became sole proprietor and editor, remaining so for many years. Buried at Cardiff Cemetary.
