              Born deaf in Adair County, KY; Kentucky School for the Deaf age 10 until graduation in 1880. Chose to go into farming; with his brother James O. Grissom (also deaf), he bought a worn-out farm at Bliss, KY and brought it back to productivity and further improved it. Also contributed regularly to local newspapers and to the Kentucky Standard.
