Summary
Native of Baltimore, MD; deaf at 6 from scarlet fever. Entered the Kendall School for the deaf in 1866; transferred to the Maryland School for the deaf, 1869 until graduation in 1872. Went into business with his father, a sales agent for the Maryland Biscuit Co. ("Uneeda" Biscuits) until the latter's death, then carried on the business alone.
