Cummings, Carla Marie

Born deaf at Frecericton, NB; Interprovincial School for the Deaf 1962-1971, then Nackawic Jr. HS, graduating 1974. Entered Gallaudet College's preparatory program in 1974, but left after 1 1/2 years. Finally completed her GED certificate nearly 20 years later. Worked at her parents' motel for a while, then for Mactaqiac Provincial Park performing various maintenance chores around campsites. In 1988, a promotion included work as the park's sign painter.
